  • Do we only transport dogs?
We transport a variety of pets and small domestic animals. We are not limited to just dogs. While our range of services is extensive, it is essential to communicate any specific accommodations your pet may need to ensure a smooth and comfortable transport experience.
  • What’s the policy regarding crates and cages on board?
SKOOT vans are equipped with cages installed for pet travel. Our vehicles feature individual cages to keep animals separated and safe during transportation. Personal travel crates for dogs or cats may not be suitable for interstate trips due to space limitations. If a cage needs to be removed to accommodate a personal crate, it may result in extra charges. The allowance of this removal will be at the discretion of the driver and it is encouraged that you reach out to SKOOT beforehand to ensure this accommodation.
  • Is my pet too old to travel?
Senior pets may require special attention during transport due to age-related health issues. The suitability of travel for senior pets may depend on factors such as breed, overall health, and chronic conditions. Older pets might have health issues that travel can exacerbate, with risks increasing for longer journeys. It is crucial to consult your veterinarian about your senior pet's ability to travel and communicate any important details to your driver here at SKOOT.
  • What time frame do I have to wait at the meeting point for pickup?
We don't expect customers to wait for extended periods at the meeting point. Our drivers typically call customers at least an hour before arriving at the meeting point to provide an exact time. The approximate time given accounts for potential delays like traffic or meeting other customers. We simply ask that you or someone you designate be available at that time.
  • Will my pet be put in crates with other animals?
Animals are housed individually in crates during transport. The only exception is for animals from the same litter, or at the discretion of the breeder or owners. They may still have visibility of other animals during certain moments of transport.
  • What can I send along with my pets?
Acceptable Items for Travel: SKOOT accepts paperwork, personal items, and puppy packs from clients to accompany their pets, up to the size of a common shopping bag. Additional luggage incurs a fee based on size. Essential items like leads, medication, and bowls should be packed in a carry bag. Packing Guidelines: All items for travel should be placed in sealable bags and clearly labeled with the pet's details. Unlabeled items are at higher risk of being misplaced. It's recommended to photograph paperwork before sending, as lost items cannot be held responsible. Comfort Items: Small blankets or toys for pet comfort during transport are allowed, but if soiled, they may be disposed of by the driver for health reasons. Larger items like beds are not accepted due to space constraints. Cleanliness and Disposal: Items placed in cages with pets, such as shirts or toys, may be discarded if soiled. SKOOT cannot accept liability for lost or damaged items, or if oversized items are refused. Additionally, towels or blankets may be disposed of if soiled during the trip. Paperwork Handling: Paperwork for the pet should be placed in an envelope with the animal's details and recipient's name, then given to the driver.
